2007 was the first vintage of Resolution Vineyard, with a small crop of only 300 bottles. The generally drier conditions gave rise to small concentrated fruit and produced an excellently structured wine which was favourably reviewed, partcularly by James Halliday who wrote:
“4.5 out of 5 points. Slightly lighter than the 08, but holding hue well; a finer wine with red fruits on the aromatic bouquet flowing through to the silky/slippery palate, the finish punctuated by fine tannins.
Screw cap, 13.8% alcohol.
Rating 92 points. Drink to 2014. $25”.
The 2007 Pinot also got special red star. Halliday uses this star to describe wines considered to “offer special value for money.”
The 2008 vintage was a much larger crop giving over 1700 bottles, with the same alcohol levels as 2007 (13.8%) but with slightly less tannins, allowing it to be drunk earlier. It is drinking deliciously now and available to purchase in Tasmania at $20 per bottle or $200 per case. James Halliday wrote:
“4 out of 5 points. Rating 89 points. Drink to 2015. $20, indicating a wine of above average quality, fault free, with clear varietal expression.”
The 2009 Pinot Noir was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2010 Hobart Wine Show.
In the Pinot Unearthed 2009 Tasmania review, each Tasmanian Vineyard was asked to submit a bottle of 2009 Pinot Noir for tasting by three mainland sommeliers. Here are the comments of the judges and scores out of 20 for our wine.
Ben Edwards: Mid garnet, bright; the bouquet shows lively fruits with strong herbaceous geranium and nettle character; the palate is quite crunchy, bright and refreshing, with chewy tannins and generous red fruits resolving the high levels of acidity. 17 pts
Chris Crawford: Deep purple crimson hue; plenty of appeal here with bright currants and woody spice; a little herbaceousness adding to its complexity; juicy, lively and crunchy entry; nicely textured with fine grained tannins; great core of briary red fruits; medium plus length; nicely crafted. 18.5 pts
Dan Sims: Bright red in colour with soft aromas of strawberry, red berries and menthol; sitting in the lighter spectrum there is an appealing core to the fruit with crunchy, cherry fruit coming through with some quite fine but somewhat firm tannins adding structure and weight to the wine; very pleasant. 16.5 pts

2010 Resolution Vineyard (A$25) had all-round support, with all of us admiring its intense strawberry fragrance and deft touch of new oak. Huon Hooke wrote: "It started with vanilla driving the nose, but then showed ripe cherry. There's good concentration, richness and flesh, with soft, powdery but ample tannins. Good detail and persistence." I liked the full body and round, well balanced structure. The wine is delicious now and will develop well over at least four years
